Misunderstanding Afflictions

This made me laugh.

People are funny.

Luke 1:57 - the story of giving John a name.

His dad, Zacharias is mute, can't talk, has been like that for an extended period of time. By some opinions he is afflicted. In verse 60 his wife says the baby will be called John - something other than a family name.

This makes some folks nervous. It is just not done... better check with Zacharias...(this is what cracked me up) Verse 62 -...they made signs to his father, how he would have him called.

The man wasn't deaf!!! They could have used their voices.

They made signs.

Heaven help us help others. Let us have a clear understanding or at least wait until we understand before we try and assist the "handicapped" during what we perceive is their spiritual need.

I speak metaphorically. You must know I am not making fun of the handicapped, I am poking fun at the myriad of methods that fall short because we aren't close enough to know the facts.

Obviously these men hadn't spent much time with Zacharias or they would have known the old man just can't talk but he's been catching everything else around him because he can still hear.
