It Takes a Family

Our family gathered this weekend. The daughter and husband from Mississippi flew in for the long MLK weekend. We were able to gather and visit for family birthdays a couple of times starting on Friday.

I sat back and listened. I like that my family is so varied in their strengths and skills.

I was curious why the birds hadn't found my bird feeder yet. My daughter was able to explain to me that the local birds already have their feeding source and I will probably get "customers" when migration starts.

After that explanation I realized how we have experts in several fields right within the family. I like that we aren't all bunched up with the same knowledge and risk being in competition.

I also notice that in becoming a matriarch I am sitting back and watching more. I appreciate each person within this linage. The generation after me has worked to break the curses which threatened to root and rot. They have used the gifts the Lord has given them and created a reflection of what Jesus can do if allowed.

I am thankful for my salvation. There was a lot of damage prior to my conversion when I was twenty-five years old. My daughters were conceived in that damage. But they have their own experience with their Savior-Creator and have sought lives of excellence.

Thank you, Jesus for your atoning power.

Amen! As we grow older it is amazing to sit back and cherish the harvest that was planted in order for the next generation to flurish. To remove our hands from the situation and let God be God and prove his word to us in every area of our lives. I too am blessed to see the reckage of my past be covered in the Blood of Jesus Christ and remembered no more as far as the east is form the west we are forgiven! And my family relationships are fully restored just as if nothing had happened.
