Resolved

There were two things that really stood out to me from the message our pastor delivered Sunday in preparation for the new year.

The first thing I want to talk about is he and his wife have been pastoring this assembly for forty years. As he approaches the anniversary of their arrival, he mentioned that he (we) have been circling our promise for those forty years and it is now time to cross over into a new blessing.

I want to expand that whole thought to where it took me in my mind. Forty years ago they were moving to minister to this church, while our family in Ohio was reeling from the death of our father.

But as I apply that message to my life, I must quit expecting something that is lost to return and cross over to what I DO have.

The second thing that really spoke to me was his admonition to get "unplugged" so you have a chance to hear the Lord speak.

My memory goes back to helping my cousins do their milking. Milking was a part of my childhood I missed after our herd was sold so whenever we visited during chore time, I welcomed helping out. But my cousins had set up a radio which blasted away in the milking parlor. It played all the latest pop tunes of the early 1970's.

It drove me nuts.

If we ever had music playing in our home or car, it was classical. But after a while, to be cool, I started filling my hearing space with pop and rock and roll also. Love tunes. She wants. He wants. He hurt. She hurt.

I get his point. Some of the stuff is not edifying and it definitely can take up space in this mind of mine which has none to spare.
