Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit saith the LORD of hosts....The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it; and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you. For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice... Zech. 4:6-9
This is an age old story since the beginning of time.
Romans 10 starts with, "Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God."
We are nothing without Him. We can do nothing without Him. Even if we have Him, we end up doing nothing if we attempt to do things without Him. He ends up reminding us to drop our efforts and hurry get in Him.
Why do we as human beings keep trying to do things in our own power and decision making ability?
So our first order of business as preachers of the gospel should be to make sure folks are full of the Holy Ghost and completely aware they must rely on daily regeneration to guide them. Otherwise we are just a community social club.
