Then said some of his disciples among themselves, What is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father? They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while? we cannot tell what he saith. Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Do ye enquire among yourselves of that I said, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me?
John 16:17-19
The Lord had just told His disciples a profound statement. Instead of asking clarifying questions of Him, they discussed it among themselves.
These were the closest companions Jesus had during His life on earth and even they hesitated to approach Him. But He knew.
He pointed out the answer wasn't in their discussion of His statement - the answer was found from the Source.
How many times do we, as carnal beings, think we can gain more spiritual understanding through our discussions with each other when the Source holds the answer?
