The Need for a Modern Day Scribe

There is a person in my life who recites details of spiritual importance endlessly. You have to be in the mood to follow some of the winding paths her conversations will take you.

This same person has a reverence for the Truths of Jesus which surpasses every other child of God. She brings a clean, certain gift of Tongues and Interpretation to the church body. The church is left knowing they have heard directly from the Lord.

The other day she was detailing the events from twenty years ago when more than one hundred people stood behind a pastor who had been called of God to make a difference in Austin. I was there but had forgotten seventy percent of what she was recalling. She doesn't just rely on her memories though, she has tapes and notes of Divine importance.

The Lord made her this way for a purpose. She has built an ark of safety, she has begged people to climb aboard and be safe, she has sounded the alarm and weeps for her spiritual offspring who forego such strict adherence. She would drive to anyone's home to remind them of prophecies and charges from the Lord.

I have observed these occurrences for more than twenty-five years. Now that we are facing the ramifications of decisions made decades ago, I am pondering my culpability.

I will be weighed in balances. Will I be found wanting?

The scriptures recording the history of Israel written by scribes are examples of how His Word will not pass away. The scribes were the recorders of what the prophets of God warned. The generations which followed were able to pick up the books and figure out why judgment had fallen. Did they number themselves when Jehovah didn't give them the thumbs up? Did they go into battle without the Lord sanctioning the fight? Did they rely on the convenience of a high place to sacrifice instead of doing it the Lord's way?

For us, what does it matter? Can't we just be blessed without all the controversy?

Some people think worship should be enough. Forget about the obedience factor.

Meanwhile, Goliath is out in the middle of the field spewing blasphemies and causing everyone to cower.

When I was at the PromiseLand, I recorded prophetic words spoken over the church and leadership. Somewhere there is a record of these promises/prophecies.

Paul charged Timothy (I Tim 1:18) to wage a good warfare with the prophecies spoken over him. This can apply to churches and communities as well.

When it comes to ourselves and our familes, we should all become scribes. We should write down any prophetic words spoken over us. And pray them...to remind ourselves of who God says we are and to remind the enemy.
