Paradise

Sunday morning I was reminded again what a misfit I am.

People speak of paradise as rent free, glistening with precious stones, gold streets, every want being satisfied. You get the picture.

Paradise to me will be the relationship between my Lord and me not encumbered by any part of flesh.

Everyday I pass the Texas Governor’s mansion. It is experiencing a face-lift. The Governor and his family had to move to temporary quarters. There was a big to-do in the paper about the cost of the rent Texans are paying to house our governor for a season.

Personally, I wouldn’t know how to furnish a house that expensive. Neither do I aspire to furnish a house that expensive.

When I envision the house of my dreams, I think of materials like knobby pine paneling, tongue and groove flooring and bookshelves filled with books all the way to the ceiling. Any more than that, I am clueless and would have to take direction.

I kind of like the simplistic look of shaker furniture. There - that is all I really know about myself. Other than that, I do like a nice rose garden.

Back to paradise.

One person’s idea of paradise might be the next person’s nightmare. But we must agree on one thing. It will be paradise for all because we will be like Jesus finally. We will have our glorified bodies and no more polishing our crowns because they will all belong to Him.
