Another Thought on Offering

Announced at service this weekend - we will now have a machine where you can pay your tithes and offering in the lobby.
Previously when I posted my thoughts concerning paying offering and tithes electronically an anonymous comment suggested they feel they are giving of their "first fruits" by sending them electronically as they sit to compile their bill payments.
I have no response to that other than "why not have your tithe and offering payroll-deducted" and then it will be even more "first fruits". You won't have to give it another thought and it won't take any time away from the worship service. Sounds like a win/win situation.
The purpose of offering and tithe paying is part of your portion of worship for the furtherance of the gospel and support of the man of God who serves you. It is not an inconvenience or interruption.

I understand that you have very strong feelings about this...which is great. Just because someone else sees it at "giving first fruits" does NOT mean they don't view it as worship. Worship isn't limited to what you do at church.

Did you know, that many churches do "payroll deduct" tithes from the paycheck of their employees?

Please keep in mind, your ideas about tithes and offerings are not the only thoughts out there.

One of the cool things about God is 1. He meets us where we are. 2. He speaks to each of us as individuals. What God is speaking to you about tithes and offerings may not be what He speaks to someone else. It's not relative, it's just different. Overall, His desire is that each one of us make Him the center of our lives, including the area of finances. He may speak to you in terms of worship and to someone else in terms of discipline. One way isn't "better" than the other, they are just different places.

Well, "Anonymous", your response scares me.

It is worse than I thought.

What does that even mean? "It's Worse than I thought?"

You are right! If done correctly, offerings are part of the worship service. People have received the Holy Ghost while offering their portion of the support of the work of God. We are living in a time of convenience and I don't believe the Lord "meets us where we are". We are to pursue a relationship with Him not the other way around. His Kingdom does not depend on us as individuals and our convenience. His Kingdom reigns on high and we are fortunate and should be humbled He called us.

I abhor the "Yo, God, here I am! Now impress me" attitude. He is not an errand boy.
