I am Alarmed

New Orleans - built in a bowl below sea level and surrounded by water on all sides. The only barriers keeping the water in place were levees designed to withstand hurricane forces up to a level three.

The arrogance of the Man-Builder to think that the forces of nature would not surpass the degree of protection they created. Yet when Katrina came through - the storm did not stop to consider the significance, traditions or culture of New Orleans.

The Army Corps of Engineers' predictions were of no use after the fact. The city lay devastated and subject to disease. Man-made partitions did not save one single street.

Man-made to protect...

Seems like it should hold for a level three...it has been tested to hold for a level three. Oh, no! This hurricane is going to hit us at a level four or five!! Quick, get the people out of the city, evacuate, evacuate!!! Oh, no, there's not time; get everyone in the stadium and hunker down and pray for the best...

Jesus railed against man-made traditions designed to save. Folks who thought it was admirable and reasonable to ask to turn back in order to take care of parents were told "let the dead bury the dead". Could you imagine? What a thought! Doesn't seem too loving, does it? Yet He was saying the best way you can love your family is if you take up your cross and follow Him the way He designs.

I think more than anything we need to teach our congregations who Jesus is and require our teachers to be able to explain the doctrine of who Jesus is. It is not enough for pastors to insulate themselves from the responsibility of answering to their God in eternity for the souls in their care by appointing someone to teach new members the New Testament doctrine in one class session. The pulpit needs to require it of anyone who holds position and will be looked up to for answers.

Nice, Christian people who keep their trinitarian beliefs, dividing the Godhead into three people, infiltrating our congregations, trying to serve in our churches are like man-made, level three levees. Surely their talents are enough proof they love Jesus even while they twist scripture... Facing Jesus at Judgement is like the ultimate level six hurricane. When He says, "I never knew you [and you never knew Me]", those levees are not going to hold.

I am praying that if the Lord tarries, my grandchildren will grow up fighting for this precious Truth to help save their generation. I am praying they will know which "levee" will withstand the beating of any force of nature because they have tested it themselves.

But I am an alarmist who weeps for this generation.
